Crisis Communications:

According to a 2006 survey done by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) of 600 corporate communicators:

  • Only 67% of the companies are prepared for their next crisis. 
  • 80% say that a crisis communication plan is a key business tool. 
  • After experiencing a crisis and having no plan, only 46% of those companies began to make a Crisis Communications plan and 42% said their companies were still taking no action.
  • Of organizations without Crisis Communications plan, 54% of them said they didn't have plans because of lack of senior management support.
  • Over 99% of those companies that had Crisis Communications plans found them very important and 80% of those said they could put the plan into place immediately. 
Some crises may be anticipated while others cannot.  A Crisis Communications plan needs to be discussed in advance.  It’s not something a company wants to think about, but they must.  An organization that recognizes a problem from the public’s perspective, can mitigate the problem, shape their message and convey that message to the media as fast as possible is far ahead of other companies that find themselves in crisis.

A Group Workshop

This one-day workshop will have a pre-workshop questionnaire to fill out to help with the discussion.  We will teach you, using the attending companies as examples, how to determine a problem, and how to right the problem before the public’s perception has time to be anything less than positive.  We will hold small breakout groups to try to determine who should be in your Crisis Team and how to build your message to keep staff and media informed.  At the end of the day, you will receive a copy of PowerPoint and notes used in the lecture.

Webinar workshop learning to look at problems from a customer's perspective

During this workshop we will learn to identify the exact problem from the public’s perspective, how to build a Crisis Team, how to determine who speaks internally and externally fielding questions from the media staying as positive as possible, but always tell the truth.  You will learn how to keep both the media and staff in the loop.  At the end of the webinar, you will be given ½ hour to ask questions.  As you sign up for the webinar, you will be asked for an e-mail address so that we may send you notes on the lecture.
